Orthodontics

For this, at Clínica Murtra we have a team of pediatric dentist, orthodontist, specialist in odontoposturology, osteopath… and a wide range of coordinated specialties (e.g., speech therapists) that allow us to offer the most advanced treatments, aiming to achieve proper dental, facial, and postural function and aesthetics, thereby promoting overall health thanks to good oral health.
In the orthodontics area, we will address problems of dental and/or jawbone misalignment, known as malocclusions, to be able to care for all our patients at the physical, bone, and muscular level.
Treatments with different appliances:
Invisalign
It is the most advanced and revolutionary system in modern orthodontics, performed using aligners (transparent trays) instead of braces, thus offering orthodontic treatments that are virtually invisible, comfortable, and hygienic.
Thanks to its 3D technology, the Murtra team studies and designs each case, even showing it to the patient before starting, and finally manufactures each aligner tailored to their teeth.
These aligners are worn all day and are replaced with the next set of aligners after being worn for 7 to 15 days. The patient removes them to eat and for proper oral hygiene. Therefore, it is an ideal therapeutic option for patients seeking aesthetics and comfort while maintaining excellent oral hygiene.
Self-ligating Braces (Damon System)
They are a low-friction fixed orthodontic system where the brackets are bonded to the front surface of the teeth and connected by an archwire that moves the teeth into the correct position.
These brackets can be metallic or ceramic, also called aesthetic. Ceramic brackets offer the advantage of being much less noticeable since they are a color very similar to the tooth.
With the use of braces, it is common to use elastics at certain points during treatment. These are rubber bands placed between the two jaws, providing extra and necessary force for correcting different types of misalignments.
Lingual Braces
They are a fixed orthodontic system where the brackets are bonded to the inner surface of the teeth. Therefore, with the brackets and archwire positioned on the inside of the mouth, they provide excellent aesthetics for the patient.
Interceptive Orthodontics and Orthopedics
This is orthodontics performed in children with generally primary or mixed dentition (some baby or temporary teeth and some permanent teeth) with the aim of treating malocclusion early and preventing its prognosis from worsening as the child grows. In most cases, carrying out this first phase of early orthodontics can correct the malocclusion, but if not, once the growth phase is complete, it is usually complemented with a second, much simpler and more specific treatment.
There are various types of appliances for the early treatment of malocclusions. They can be fixed or removable, and the most suitable one must be chosen depending on the malocclusion and the child’s characteristics. Among the different appliances, we find; expanders, quad-helix, expansion plates, twin-block...
Pre-prosthetic Orthodontics in Adults with Mini-implants
This is the orthodontics we perform when the patient needs to modify the position or inclination of their teeth to place an implant or another type of dental prosthesis under the best biological conditions. This type of treatment is usually localized, and thanks to mini-implants, which are easily anchored in the bone near the area to be modified, dental positions can be corrected without having to move all the teeth in the arch to achieve the same result.
All therapeutic modalities require specific care, which we provide to our patients to ensure the treatment is successful.
