The way the teeth come together (occlusion) is often understood as a set of static features that make the teeth fit, however, occlusion involves many other structures with high physiological complexity such as; the TMJ<\/a> (temporomandibular joint)<\/span>, the cervical vertebrae, the shoulder girdle, the pelvic girdle, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is known that mandibular postural issues are reflected in the body\u2019s postural problems and, reciprocally, a postural problem is reflected in mandibular issues.<\/strong> Therefore, when our specialists work at the occlusal level, we do not forget the impact it may have on the patient\u2019s posturology, which is why we rely on the expertise of our osteopath.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are fully aware that there is a strong link between our posture and our occlusion. A poor position of the jaw, or small asymmetries, causes abnormal contractions of certain muscles, leading to postural changes that may be accompanied by cervico-cranial problems due to compensatory adaptations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cranio-vertebral and cranio-mandibular unit is what concerns us most, as we always aim for parallelism between the bipupillary plane and the occlusal plane. However, when there are somatic dysfunctions anywhere in the body, biomechanical changes occur that lead to compensations and postural changes, which in turn cause alterations in soft tissues and the mandible.
