ESTÉTICA DENTAL

Dental Aesthetics

Dental aesthetics aims to harmoniously imitate natural teeth so that one can have a beautiful, attractive, and natural-looking smile.

Your smile is your calling card. When we smile, we communicate many things, and for this reason, our specialists can study your facial features and determine what can be improved to achieve that harmonious and radiant smile we all want to show.

When to visit a specialist

Dental aesthetics problems can originate from incorrect coloration, issues with shape, size, or position, dark spaces between teeth (diastemas), missing teeth, gum recession exposing parts of the root, poorly fitted or discolored old fillings, etc.

That is why each case must be studied individually, and through visual and photographic analysis, we like to create a “model” or “mock-up” that allows us to show our patients the final result, even before the treatment itself has begun.

Frequent Treatments

TEETH WHITENING

Whitening is a conservative, simple aesthetic treatment that does not damage the tooth structure. It is indicated for aged teeth, teeth stained by beverages or foods containing chromogenic agents (examples: tea, coffee, red wine, certain soft drinks…), or even for teeth that are naturally discolored due to antibiotics, high fluoride concentrations, etc.

There are various methods to whiten teeth:

How much whitening can be achieved? The effectiveness of the treatment varies depending on the initial natural coloration of each case. For this reason, we recommend a prior examination in which the specialist can indicate your range and what results you can expect.

How long can the achieved color last? Once the obtained color has stabilized, to maintain it, we must be careful with hygiene and dietary habits… and over time, perform occasional maintenance treatments to continue preserving the achieved color.

What side effects can it cause? None, although temporary tooth sensitivity or minor gum irritation may occur, which typically recovers in less than 24 hours.

COMPOSITE OR CERAMIC VENEERS

Veneers are thin layers of composite or ceramic that adhere to the tooth to correct undesirable defects, creating a harmonious, genuine, and balanced smile.

Composite veneers:

Ideal for cases such as size/shape defects, fractured or worn teeth, enamel defects, or discoloration where whitening (link to whitening section) is not sufficient.

  • Minimally invasive: Tooth preparation is minimal or nonexistent.
  • Reversible: It can be modified or redone at any time, keeping your underlying tooth intact.
  • Can be done in a single visit.

Ceramic veneers:

Reserved for cases where the tooth color or position requires a more aggressive approach in order to camouflage it.

  • Necessary shaving of the visible surface of the tooth: although this shaving is usually about 0.5 mm thick.
  • Greater long-term stability than composite: therefore, it does not change color and does not require maintenance.

CLOSURE OF SPACES BETWEEN TEETH – DIASTEMA

Sometimes teeth shift or gums recede, creating dark spaces between the teeth. To solve this aesthetic issue, partial veneers (composite or ceramic) can be made to close and mask these unsightly black triangles.
